PROJECT: CAMARÃO DE ANGOLA

This project was approved as a private investment by the Angolan Council of Ministers on 21st May 2010 and the investment contract were signed between Ridge Solutions and ANIP (Angolan Institute for Private Investment) on Friday 19th November 2010.

The first phase of the project will be a 32 Hectare pilot project with a small hatchery/nursery and a mobile processing plant where we will test various protocols and two strains of the species Penaeus Monodon, Tiger prawns, one originating in the waters of the coast of Gabon and the other from Mozambique. The estimated investment on phase one is Euro 2,613,000 (USD 3,396,000)

The next phases of the project will be developed over a period of around 4 to 5 years were we will establish 1,000 hectares of grow out ponds with a permanent hatchery/nursery producing 650,000,000 post larva (baby shrimps) per year. A processing plant with a capacity of 20 tons per day will be constructed. A total of 1,200 people will be employed on the project of which at least 1,192 will be local Angolans.

It takes around 170 days from the day that a baby shrimp is placed into the grow out pond until he is harvested for processing. That means that we can harvest two crops per year for each pond. We plan to produce 6,000 tons of processed shrimp per year. Some of the product will be sold locally in the Angolan market and the majority will be exported to USA, Europe and Asia.
